Local Activities
As well as riding, why not combine your riding
break with other activities? Our lovely location in the heart
of the Surrey hills means we have a number of other attactions
on our doorstep - and we are also only 30 miles from the centre
of London. Below are some of the things to do which might
also be of interest to non-riding partners.
Walking
The North Downs and Greensand Ways, The Mole Gap Trail and
the Downs Link are all as diverse as the countryside through
which they pass. There are two excellent ordnance survey maps
covering the area which are widely available in bookshops:
- Landranger 187 'Dorking, Reigate and Crawley' (1:50,000)
- Explorer 146 'Dorking, Box Hill and Reigate' (1:25,000)
Cycling
Off road cycling is permitted on bridleways. These give access to
extensive areas of countryside. Cyclists are requested to give way
to horse riders and walkers. (All our horses are safe around bikes).
The
Mole Valley Cycling Forum website can help you plan cycle routes in
the area.
Cycle hire
- Boxhill Station on Sundays and bank holidays throughout
the year, otherwise by prior arrangement. Tel +44(0)1306 886944.
- Nirvana Cycles in Westcott offer challenging cycle rides. Tel +44(0)1306 740300.
Other activities in the area include golf,
with both public
and private courses and fishing.
Local pubs
After a long ride or a day's walk, why not relax in one of our local
pubs.
Other attractions
The area has a selection of National Trust properties and other
places of interest. We have listed a few below for you to look at.
