Holidays with your Horse
The Riding
What could be better than going on holiday with your best
friend? We have maps of the local area
available and recommended routes for 1 hour, 2 hour and all
day (4 hour) rides involving a stop at a local pub. We have
livery facilities available and your horse would be in close
proximity to our home with security at all times. Hire
of our manège can also be arranged.
The riding is through National Trust forests
and along sand tracks. The terrain is varied; the Surrey Hills
are undulating, where the hills afford great views
toward the South Downs of Sussex and the valleys are peaceful
and thickly wooded. Below are examples of some of our favourite
routes, but for the more adventurous, there are over 6000
acres for you both to explore, none of which involve any road
work.
Coldharbour
If you take the opportunity you could find yourself setting
out from the yard heading up towards Coldhabour where you
can often catch the cricket on a warm summers day and then
pop across to the Plough Inn pub for some light refreshment.
Leith Hill
You could take the route up to Leith Hill the highest point
in south-east England, crowned by an 18th-century Gothic
tower, from which there are magnificent views. On a clear
day you can see seven counties from the top. The surrounding
woodland contains ancient stands of hazel and oak and there
is a colourful display of rhododendrons in May and June.
Abinger Common
This route takes you up to The Stephan Langton pub which
is hidden away in one of those tiny hamlets that rewards
the seeker of unspoiled places. This is a beautiful and tranquil
place in the midst of some of the finest countryside you'll
find anywhere.
Overnight Livery Facilities
At the end of the day your horse will return
to a feed and warm stable. Please contact us for prices of overnight stabling for your horse.
Accommodation
There is a variety of accommodation available locally to suit
all purses ranging from local B&Bs to hotels.
Transport
The centre is about six miles from Dorking and is in a rural
location so you will need your own transport. Parking for
trailers is available at our yard by prior arrangement.
